Beaverton 36 Putnam 6

We played against a big, fast, and hard hitting team. Beaverton played very well and we again had a hard time being competitive. We knew that this team was very good, we have to strive to be at their level. We are currently in the last playoff spot in our division. As a team we are moving on from these two losses and will continue to work on getting better. Thank you to all who give positive support to the team, and to those who volunteer their time to the team.

Aloha 30 Putnam 0

It was a tough night for the team. Aloha had a very good team and we had problems competing with them on this night. We need to stay positive and keep working on getting better. Thank you for all that support and volunteer their time to the team.

Great game Putnam, that was a hard fought game and with the teams hard work we came out on top. St. Helens had a big physical team and played a real good game. Congratulations goes out to all the Putnam players.

Thank you to all the volunteers who give their time to the league and our team.

Putnam 36 Gladstone 13

Congratulations goes out to the Putnam Varsity team for defeating Gladstone. Thank you to all the parents and coaches for your support of the team. Thanks goes out to the weigh master and chain gang for their help in our second game of the season.

Offensively we had a lot of players involved and the coaches did an awesome job of spreading the ball around. Zack Schroder was the first to score by catching a pass from quarterback Trevor Stofiel. Tyler Strauss scored, he also caught a pass thrown by Trevor. Kevin Rodgers ran for two touchdowns, and Ian McDougal ran for a touchdown. These touchdowns are all produced because of great team effort. Brandon McCuin made 3 extra point attempts for 6 points and Justin Sauer also contributed to the offense in making some big runs and had some great punt returns. All the players involved in these offensive plays deserve credit. It takes 11 players playing hard to make our offense work. I give the offensive lineman a lot of credit for their hard work, they are looking real good this year.

Defensively everyone played well and we only had a few breakdowns in the game. Fortunately the player that was hurt badly during the game will be fine and will return playing for the Gladstone team next week. The coaches teach our players to play fair and to play hard. We never want to see players get hurt, unfortunately that is part of this game and we are all thankful that there were no serious injuries in the game.

The season is young and we all need to keep working hard to improve and achieve our goal of competitive greatness.

Thanks again for your support, we will see you all at Putnam where we will be playing St. Helens next Saturday. Keep cheering us on.

Putnam 20 Lake Oswego 30

I would like to start out thanking the coaches and parents for their commitment and support of our team. The game was a battle as I had expected it to be. LO always has good teams that are well coached. I felt that we were the better team but just could not put it all together for four quarters. The players played hard and will learn a lot from this game, battling a good team that LO had. Mistakes were made by players and coaches and if we stay positive and keep working hard our team will continue to be highly competitive and we will be able to win some games. We had a few fundamental breakdowns that will lose you games against good teams. On a positive note, our players never gave up and never stopped playing hard from start to finish. We had a couple of big runs by Justin Sauer who scored two touchdowns for the team, and we also got a score by Nick Edwards. Nick has been a lineman for the last four years of football and I know he was excited to get to run with the ball and run it into the end zone. All our touchdowns are team efforts and we want to give the line a lot of credit for the effort that they put forth. They battled the whole game with little rest. This is a lot to ask from these big kids on a hot day. Great job line, keep up the hard work and good things will happen for this team. Defensively I feel that we are close to being very good and if we keep working hard and take care of our fundamentals, tackling, and assignments that we will be very good. We forced three fumbles which were because of our constant effort that comes from heart and determination. It was a hard fought competitive game from all the players and this is what our fans will see every week. So keep cheering us on and we will keep working hard to get better. See you all at Gladstone.

Thank you,
Coach Hill
