Putnam 0 Clackamas 32

We had another tough game this past Saturday against a very strong Clackamas team. We fought hard, but were not able to get over the hump. I am proud of all the players for battling to the end and not giving up. Blocking was again a major reason why were not able to move the ball very much during the game. Our defense was strong, but we will need to work on containment this week in practice. We will have our hands full again this week as we get ready for West Linn, who has the same 3 -2 record that we do. Let’s all work hard this week and come out fighting this Saturday!!

Putnam 0 Lake Oswego 20

Saturday's game against Lake Oswego was a hard fought battle. Even though we had a rough first quarter, I am proud of the players for not giving up when down. Although our offense was unable to move the ball effectively, our defense played well in later quarters. Keep your heads up high as we prepare for a very good Clackamas team!

Another shut out! This makes three games in a row where our opponents have not scored. Our entire defense played very well and stopped the ball when it mattered!! They had a few goal line stands, two forced fumbles and an interception. Special teams also had another great game. Our offense had 3 turnovers in the game, but still managed to score two touchdowns. We will work on ball control this week in practice and get ready for a very good Lake Oswego team. Keep up the great work!!

Score: Putnam 13, Oregon City 0

Congratulations to all the players and coaches for our second win of the season. It was a rainy Saturday morning at Putnam with lots of fumbles, but we held our ground and fought off a tough Oregon City team. Our offense and defense were tested early when we fumbled the ball at the 10 yard line after a 50+ yard opening drive. We had 8 fumbles in the game due to the wet conditions, however, two of them were missed snaps that were picked up by our quarterback and ran in for our only touchdowns!! Missed blocks was a big reason our offense did not move the ball more than we could have as the OC defense did a good job creating pressure and disrupting our back field. Also, ball control and running through holes with lack of speed was a factor. We will try to fix those issues this week in practice and get ready for a good Aloha team.

Our entire defense played very well and secured the game for us by shutting out our opponent for the second week in a row!! Special teams also did a great job in recovering two onside kicks that allowed our offense to stay on the field.

Overall we played well but made our share of mistakes as players and coaches. We are all still learning, but will continue to work hard and improve after every game.

The first game was awesome! The boys were determined and came together for a win. Our patience was tested early as penalties plagued us repeatedly. They all stuck with it and scored in more ways than one! Overall the keys to our success were the offensive line delivering key blocks to get our ball carriers to the end zone, while our defense didn’t allow any points. Our backs and receivers were fast and sure handed, even when making diving grabs! I can’t wait for them to do it all again this Saturday!!
